Mini Split Systems

Residential mini-split systems are ductless heating and cooling solutions that offer high efficiency, flexible installation, and precise comfort control. They consist of an outdoor heat pump unit connected to one or more indoor units by refrigerant lines, eliminating the need for ductwork. Mini-split systems are well-suited for homes without ducts, additions, or spaces with unique comfort requirements. Several types of residential mini-split systems are available, based on configuration and indoor unit style.

Single-Zone Mini-Split Systems
Single-zone mini-split systems include one outdoor unit paired with one indoor unit. They are ideal for conditioning a specific area, such as a single room, garage conversion, or home addition. These systems provide efficient, targeted comfort and are often the simplest and most cost-effective mini-split option.

Multi-Zone Mini-Split Systems
Multi-zone mini-split systems use one outdoor unit to serve multiple indoor units installed in different rooms or zones. Each indoor unit operates independently, allowing occupants to set different temperatures in each space. This makes multi-zone systems ideal for whole-home comfort or households with varying heating and cooling preferences.

Wall-Mounted Mini-Split Units
Wall-mounted indoor units are the most common type of mini-split. Installed high on an interior wall, they deliver efficient airflow and are easy to install. Their compact, modern design allows them to blend into most living spaces while providing reliable heating and cooling.

Ceiling Cassette Mini-Split Units
Ceiling cassette units are recessed into the ceiling, typically between joists, and distribute air evenly in multiple directions. They offer a discreet appearance and are well-suited for rooms where wall space is limited or for homeowners who prefer a less visible indoor unit.

Floor-Mounted Mini-Split Units
Floor-mounted units are installed low on a wall, similar in appearance to a radiator. They are ideal for rooms with sloped ceilings, limited wall height, or large windows. These units provide strong heating performance and comfortable air distribution at occupant level.

Concealed Duct Mini-Split Units
Concealed duct mini-split systems use a hidden indoor air handler connected to short duct runs that serve one or more rooms. This option combines the efficiency of a mini-split with the clean look of traditional vents, making it popular for homeowners seeking minimal visual impact.

Each type of residential mini-split system offers distinct advantages. The best choice depends on home layout, aesthetic preferences, zoning needs, and climate. When properly designed and installed, mini-split systems deliver quiet, efficient, and customizable comfort throughout the home.
